Schumann Resonance (7.83Hz)

Gaia Collaboration: This photo was created in collaboration with Gaia.com to celebrate Earth Day 2022, as well as the launch of Gaia’s series ‘Sound of Creation,’ which explores the fascinating science and history behind cymatics.
'Cymatics' is the physics of sound made visible.
The inspiration for the particular frequency used to create this image came from the Schumann Resonance: Earth's resonant vibrational frequency. The Earth has an electromagnetic field surrounding and protecting all living things with a natural frequency pulsation of 7.83 hertz, along with progressively weaker harmonics at around 14.3, 20.8, 27.3, and 33.8 Hz. These oscillations are called the Schumann resonances.
“The frequency of 7.83Hz has a wavelength equal to the circumference of the Earth. This golden frequency is in the theta region of the brain, home to the mu rhythm. It is also the key note to which Nikola Tesla tuned the North American Power Grid. The electric power hums at 60Hz, the ninth overtone of the Earth, and loudest note from Space―B1, or Deep B."
This photo was captured by reflecting coloured lights over a circular dish of water, while vibrating to a frequency of the Schumann Resonances.
The geometric pattern organically appears, and this is captured as a long exposure photograph. See behind the scenes here.
This work reveals a fundamental story, a representation of the transformative flow from chaos to order.
Mandalas are universal to the human psyche. We recognise them everywhere across time and culture, all the way to macro worlds of nature itself.
Notice how the mathematical ratios of these naturally forming Sound-Mandalas align with elements of sacred geometry.
