Created by photographing light reflections off the surface of water while being vibrated to a resonant mode, forming standing waves of interference. See behind the scenes here.

This was the centrepiece of my solo exhibition 'Resonance: Visible Sound and the Primordial Mythos' and it's the most complex cymatics photo I've ever created.

It came from a long period of experimentation, chasing the balance between chaos and order. Sacred geometry forming organically from sound, water and light. The result feels cosmic and primordial at the same time. The multiple ring layers are technically difficult to balance, finding pattern, resonance and beauty, while keeping the waves in focus.

This work reveals a fundamental story, a representation of the transformative flow from chaos to order.

All is vibration. Whether it’s wavefunctions describing quantum systems, the ripples of gravitational waves, or the large-scale structures shaped by dark matter, the universe seems to resonate with the language of waves, patterns, and interactions

These patterns feel universal, mandalas found across nature, across cultures, across time. Something in us recognises them.
